Sue Johnson, Ed.D., C.Psych., Professor of Psychology & Psychiatry


Sue is the founding Director of the OCFI. For over ten years she was also the Director of the Marital and Family Clinic at the Civic hospital in Ottawa and recognized as an international expert and trainer in the field of couple and family therapy.

Sue is the primary proponent of the Emotionally Focused model of couple therapy (EFT) which has demonstrated its effectiveness in over 15 years of clinical research.

Sue is the author of several seminal books and numerous articles on couple and family therapy.

Her work is recognized by her colleagues as being at the frontier of contemporary couple and family therapy.

She is the Year 2000 recipient of the "Outstanding Contribution to Marriage and Family Therapy Award", given by the American Association of Marital and Family Therapy.
