Lyzon Babchishin, Ph.D., C. Psych.Psychologist
Lyzon provides psychological services to adults and couples with a range of difficulties, such as relational difficulties, anxiety, depression, trauma, emotion deregulation and grief and bereavement.
Lyzon’s prevailing theoretical orientation integrates elements of emotionally focused and skills-based approaches (mindfulness-based therapy). She works collaboratively with each client to set up treatment goals and tailor intervention plans. In addition, Lyzon aims to provide a safe, empathic, and warm therapeutic environment for her clients.
Lyzon earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Ottawa. She received her clinical training from a variety of hospital and community-based clinics in the Ottawa region. For instance, Lyzon has worked at the Borderline and Outpatient Clinics at the Montfort Hospital, the HIV Clinic at The Ottawa Hospital, the Elmgrove Acute Care Clinic in Brockville, the Centre for Treatment of Sexual Abuse and Childhood Trauma, and the Centre for Psychological Services and Research.
Lyzon is currently in supervised practice with Marlene Best, Ph.D., C. Psych. She continues her professional development through regular supervision, workshops, conferences, and scientific readings. Lyzon is also involved in research that aims to better understand the developmental risk and outcomes of childhood trauma.
Lyzon also works at the Ottawa Anxiety and Trauma Clinic, where she conducts psychological assessment and psychotherapy.
